As the Muslims set out for Badr in Ramadan 2 AH, Nabi Muhammad ﷺ stopped at the well of al-Suqya on the western edge of Madinah. Here he reviewed his small army, sending back some who were too young to fight, and prayed for blessing on Madinah and its people. A small mosque was later built at the spot, beside the well that gave it its name. The restored mosque, with its three small domes, stands today within the grounds of the old Hijaz Railway station in the al-Anbariyyah area. It is one of the few surviving early mosque sites in the city and is usually seen from outside or visited at prayer times.
