Hilal ibn Umayyah al-Waqifi was one of the early Muslims of the Ansar, from Banu Waqif, whose mother was the sister of Kulthum ibn al-Hidm, the host of the Prophet ﷺ at Quba. He fought at Badr and Uhud and carried the banner of his clan at the conquest of Makkah. He was one of the three Companions who stayed behind from the expedition to Tabuk without excuse and who were forgiven after fifty days, whose repentance is described in the Qur'an. His house and garden stood at Quba, about 250 metres east of Masjid Quba. Nothing of them survives today.
