Lahore's Town Hall was built as the Victoria Jubilee Town Hall to mark the fiftieth year of Queen Victoria's reign. Its foundation stone was laid in February 1887 and it was opened in February 1890. It remains the seat of the city's Metropolitan Corporation. The red-brick building stands at the junction of the Upper and Lower Mall, facing Nasir Bagh, with lawns and a fountain in front. The Lahore Museum, the Zamzama Gun and the National College of Arts are a short walk along the Mall.
