This early seventeenth-century tomb is known by tradition as the tomb of Anarkali, the woman of the well-known story of the court of Akbar; historical accounts name her as Sahib-i Jamal, a wife of Jahangir. The tomb gave its name to the Anarkali bazaar nearby. It is an octagonal domed building with domed corner turrets. It now stands inside the Punjab Civil Secretariat and houses the Punjab Archives, so visitors need permission to enter.
