The Sunehri Mosque, the Golden Mosque, was built in 1753 by Nawab Sayyid Bhikari Khan, deputy governor of Lahore in the late Mughal period. It takes its name from its three gilded domes. The mosque is raised on a high platform above the shops of Kashmiri Bazaar on the old royal route from Delhi Gate, and is reached by steps from the street. The prayer hall is richly painted inside, and the gilded domes can be seen from the surrounding lanes. The Wazir Khan Mosque is a short walk to the east.
