Jamia Ashrafia is one of the largest Islamic seminaries in Pakistan. It was founded in Lahore in 1947 by Mufti Muhammad Hasan and named after his teacher, Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanawi. Its campus on Ferozepur Road has a large white marble mosque with tall minarets, which is known for its Friday sermons, together with teaching halls for hifz and the dars-e-nizami course.
