Faiz Ahmad Faiz (1911–1984) was one of the greatest Urdu poets of the twentieth century, whose ghazals and poems are recited and sung across South Asia. He passed away in Lahore in November 1984. He is buried in the graveyard of G Block, Model Town. The writers Ashfaq Ahmed and Bano Qudsia also lie in the same graveyard.
