Nila Gumbad, the Blue Dome, is the tomb of Shaykh Abdul Razzaq Makki, a Sufi who settled in Lahore in the early Mughal period and became a disciple of Mauj Darya Bukhari. His disciples raised the tomb over his grave, and the monument became so well known that the whole quarter beside Anarkali took its name. The square tomb is crowned by a dome faced with blue glazed tiles. A large mosque with three domes and a wide courtyard stands to its north and holds big congregations for Friday prayer. The complex has been under restoration in recent years, with its surroundings opened up so that the dome can again be seen from the Mall. Inside the enclosure opposite is the small tomb of Khwaja Muhammad Saeed.
