Souq al-Saray is the old covered market beside the Qishla, named after the Ottoman government house (saray) that stood next to it. It is one of the oldest markets of Baghdad and is known today for books, stationery and printing. It runs from the end of Mutanabbi Street past the Saray mosque towards the river, and it has been restored in recent years along with the rest of the street.
