Shaykh Warram ibn Abi Firas al-Hilli (d. 605 AH) was one of the early scholars of Hillah, a jurist and ascetic best known for his collection of counsel and moral teaching, Tanbih al-Khawatir, often called Majmu'at Warram. He traced his descent to Malik al-Ashtar, the companion of Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib, and he was the maternal grandfather of Sayyid Radi al-Din Ali ibn Tawus. His shrine stands in the centre of Hillah, on al-Ra'y Street opposite the municipality offices, on the site of the school that once carried his name. Today it is a small mosque with a garden.
