Morića Han is the last surviving han (inn) in Sarajevo. It was first built in 1551 as part of Gazi Husrev Bey's endowment, and at its height it could house around 300 travellers and 70 horses. Its name is usually linked to the Morić family, who rented it in later times. The han burned several times and was rebuilt after the fire of 1697. It burned again in 1957 and was restored between 1971 and 1974 to its traditional form, with an enclosed courtyard, a wooden gallery of rooms on the upper floor and stables below. Ownership returned to the Gazi Husrev Bey endowment in 1998, and today the courtyard holds a traditional restaurant, a café and a carpet shop.
