The Great Mosque of Idlib is considered the oldest mosque in the city and is said to date back to the Ayyubid period. Its rectangular prayer hall is roofed with domes resting on piers, and it has two entrances. It stands in the old centre of Idlib and remains the city's best-known historic mosque.
