The Casa Andalusí, located in Córdoba’s historic Jewish Quarter near the Mezquita–Cathedral, is a beautifully restored house that recreates the atmosphere of an Andalusí residence from the 12th century. Its architecture reflects the traditional Islamic domestic model: an inward-looking home centred on a courtyard, where water, plants, and light created a serene space of privacy and beauty. Inside, visitors find patios with fountains, mosaic floors, and delicate decorative work, recalling the elegance of Córdoba’s Islamic golden age. The house also contains exhibitions that illustrate aspects of Andalusí life, including a paper workshop that highlights the introduction of papermaking into al-Andalus, a craft that flourished in Córdoba as part of its role as a centre of knowledge and scholarship. The Casa Andalusí today serves as a small museum and cultural space, allowing visitors to step back into the domestic and intellectual world of al-Andalus. It offers a vivid contrast to Córdoba’s monumental architecture, showing the refined lifestyle, craftsmanship, and learning traditions that once defined everyday life in the city’s neighbourhoods.
