Rijal Alma' is a village of stone tower houses in a valley of the Asir mountains, about 50 km west of Abha, and is more than 900 years old. Its sixty or so buildings rise up to eight storeys, with colourful wooden windows and walls painted in the al-Qatt style of the region. The Rijal Alma' Museum, in a palace more than four centuries old, holds over 2,000 objects and documents. Entry is ticketed, and the drive down from Abha through the al-Soudah mountains is steep.
