About Najran Emirate Palace

Najran's Emirate Palace was completed in 1363 AH (1944) after about two years of building by Turki ibn Madi, then emir of Najran, and served as the seat of the emirate until 1378 AH. Built of mud, stone and palm timber across three floors, it held some sixty rooms for the emir's household, his majlis, guests and stores, with a mosque and an ancient stone-lined well within its walls. Four round towers crown its corners. The palace was restored with its original materials in 2008, and the square in front of it now hosts craftspeople and cultural events beside the traditional souq, where leather, pottery and clothing are sold. Visitors report that the interior has been closed for renovation, with the façade and gate visible from the square.
