Masjid Bani Khatmah was the mosque of Banu Khatmah, a clan of the Aws who lived in al-Awali, the higher ground south-east of the city. It is listed by the historians of Madinah among the places where Nabi Muhammad ﷺ prayed, and locally it is also called Masjid al-Ajuz. A small old mosque stands on the site today and is open for prayer. It lies in the palm-farm district of al-Awali, a short drive from Masjid Quba and the Mashrabah of Umm Ibrahim.
