This old mosque stands on the east side of the town of al-Dakhlah in Sudayr, in al-Majma'ah governorate, about 175 km north-west of Riyadh. It dates from the late ninth century AH, between 850 and 900 AH, which makes it one of the oldest mosques of the region, and it once had a room where children learned the Qur'an. Built in the Najdi style, it has arcades of mud and stone, a roof of athel wood and palm fronds, an open courtyard, three entrances and a small rectangular minaret. It was restored in the first phase of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques, launched in 2018, when a well was also dug for it; it now holds about 470 worshippers.
