The House of al-Rifa'i was built for Ahmad Munawwar al-Rifa'i, a pearl merchant of Farasan Island who often travelled to India and brought two Indian craftsmen to design it. Its decoration has remained unchanged since 1923. The stone house has geometric plaster carving, recessed arches and inscriptions of du'a across its facades, and it recalls the wealth of Farasan in the days of the pearl trade. It is usually closed inside, but the facades can be seen from the street.
