About Al-Ghat Heritage Museum

Al-Ghat Heritage Museum occupies the old Emirate Palace in the heritage town of al-Ghat, on the road from Riyadh to Qassim. The palace has some fifty rooms in two sections, the older one in traditional mud brick and the newer added in 1386 AH (1966), and it has been restored and turned into a museum that is free to enter. Its halls trace the history of the area from prehistoric times through the pre-Islamic and Islamic periods, with displays on crafts, farming and daily life. Around it lies the restored Najdi mud-brick town with its lanes, old souq and the rebuilt Awshaza mosque, and the Rahmaniyyah library stands in a palm grove nearby.
