Al-Dosariyah Castle stands on a hill in the centre of Jazan, overlooking the port and the Red Sea. It was built in 1225 AH (1810) and rebuilt in 1351 to 1352 AH (1932 to 1933) under King Abdulaziz, after which it housed the town's garrison. The fort is a square two-storey building of about 900 square metres with a round tower at each corner, loopholes in its walls and a central courtyard ringed by arches. The area around it has been landscaped to link the castle with Jazan's old souq, and the hilltop gives wide views over the city and the sea. Visitors report that the interior is often locked, though the grounds are open.
