The Unchi Masjid, the High Mosque, stands inside Bhati Gate and takes its name from being raised on a high platform above the level of the bazaar. An inscription recorded by the historian Muhammad Latif dates it to the reign of Akbar, and local tradition ascribes it to a water carrier of that time. The mosque is reached by a flight of steps from the street, and its façade is decorated with colourful tiles and painted panels. It is one of the landmarks of the Bhati Gate quarter.
