The Shahi Hammam is a bathhouse built in the 1630s by Wazir Khan, governor of Lahore, as an endowment for his mosque. It followed the Persian plan of a series of hot, warm and cool chambers and served travellers entering the city by Delhi Gate. It was restored in the 2010s and opened to visitors, with its painted vaults and frescoes cleaned and the old water and heating channels exposed under glass. It stands just inside Delhi Gate, and the Wazir Khan Mosque is a short walk further along the royal route.
