The Shorja is the great wholesale bazaar of Baghdad, one of the oldest markets in the city, where spices, sweets, cloth, household goods and almost anything else are sold in a maze of covered lanes. It lies in old Rusafa between Rashid Street and Jumhuriya Street, near the Khulafa mosque, and is at its busiest in the mornings and before the Eid holidays.
