The Muradiya mosque was built between 1566 and 1570 by Murad Pasha, the Ottoman governor of Baghdad, and is one of the oldest Ottoman mosques in the city. A khan beside it was renovated by Ahmad Pasha in 1686. Seven domes rest on four marble columns, the main dome decorated with Qur'anic inscriptions inside and blue and green tiles outside, while the minaret follows the older Abbasid style. It stands on Maydan Square in Rusafa, near the Ahmadiya mosque, and was last restored in 2009.
