The Ibn Eid mosque is one of the old mosques of al-Mishraq in Old Basra, first built by local benefactors around three hundred years ago. It takes its name from Muhammad ibn Eid al-Najdi, who rebuilt it in 1345 AH (1928), and it was rebuilt again in brick in 1414 AH (1994), keeping its old decoration. The five daily prayers are held here. It stands about 150 m from the Kawaz mosque with the grave of Muhammad Amin al-Kawaz, and the shrine of Muhammad Darwish al-Rifa'i and the al-Abbasiyya Library are close by.
