This shrine in al-Hartha, north of Basra, is the grave of Sayyid Tahir al-Gharifi, of the al-Gharifi Sayyids, a Musawi family of the Prophet's ﷺ descendants long established in Basra. The people of the district hold him in great respect and visit his grave to seek blessings and to pray. It stands on the paper-mill road in al-Hartha. The grave of another of the family, Sayyid Muhammad al-Gharifi, is about 14 km to the north-west, towards al-Dayr.
