This maqam at al-Bu Mushayh honours Sayyiduna al-Abbas ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib, the standard-bearer of Imam al-Husayn, who was martyred at Karbala in 61 AH and is buried there. Maqams in his name are found throughout southern Iraq, and this one is a place of prayer and vows for the people of the area. It lies in the al-Dayr district north of Basra, about 2 km from the Maqam of Nabi Ibrahim in the same village.
