This shrine north of Basra is the grave of Sayyid Muhammad al-Gharifi, of the al-Gharifi Sayyids, a Musawi family of the Prophet's ﷺ descendants long established in Basra, and it is visited by the people of the surrounding villages. It lies between al-Hartha and al-Dayr, about 3 km from the Maqam of al-Mahdi at al-Dayr and 6 km from the shrine honoured as the grave of Nabi Sulayman at Qaryat Nasr.
