The mosque of Qanibay al-Rammah was built in 1503 by the amir Qanibay al-Sayfi, known as al-Rammah, the master of the horse under Sultan al-Ghuri. Its minaret, crowned with two tops, is one of the best-known in Cairo, and the mosque is shown on the Egyptian two-hundred-pound note. The mosque stands on Salah al-Din Square facing the Citadel, close to the Sultan Hasan and al-Rifa'i mosques, and it has been under restoration in recent years.
