About Dahshur (Bent Pyramid)

Dahshur holds two of the earliest true pyramids, built for King Sneferu, the father of Khufu, around 2600 BC. The Bent Pyramid changes its angle halfway up, and the nearby Red Pyramid was the first smooth-sided pyramid to be completed. The Bent Pyramid keeps much of its original casing stone. The site is quieter than Giza and lies in the desert about 40 kilometres south of Cairo, south of Saqqara.
