The Pyramids of Giza were built for the kings Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure of the Fourth Dynasty, around 2600 to 2500 BC. The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one still standing. The plateau also holds smaller queens' pyramids, the tombs of officials and the Sphinx. Visitors can enter some of the pyramids, and the plateau is reached from the town of Giza on the western edge of Cairo, close to the Grand Egyptian Museum.
