Sokolac is a medieval fortress on a hill a few kilometres south-east of Bihać, guarding the Una valley. Like the other castles of the region, it stood on the long frontier between the Ottoman and Habsburg worlds and changed hands over the centuries. The main tower can be climbed to the top, and from there the views over Bihać and the Una valley are excellent, especially at sunset. Entry is free, and a steep road leads up to a small car park.
