Husn al-Zakatin is a fortress on a great rock at the highest point of the village of al-Zakatin, above the historic town of Hababah in al-Mahwit. It is named after the zakat that was collected there at harvest time, and grain stores lie beneath it. The fortress is built of stone into the rock and has been renewed many times. Families still live in the old village below, which has oil presses, grain stores and cisterns, and there are views towards Thula.
