This Ba-Alawi mosque in Seiyun was built by Sayyid Alawi ibn Taha al-Habashi in 1072 AH, beginning as a small mosque attached to his grandfather's house, and it was used for lessons from the start. It was renovated in 1334 AH by one of his descendants. The mosque has kept its old character, with a whitewashed prayer hall, a courtyard and a tall white minaret, and is counted among the best-preserved historic mosques of Seiyun.
