Al-Muzaffar Mosque is one of the principal landmarks of the old city of Taiz. It was founded in 648 AH (1250) by the second Rasulid sultan, al-Muzaffar Yusuf ibn Umar, when Taiz became the capital of the Rasulid state, and some of its domes were added under the Tahirids. The prayer hall is roofed with three large domes and eleven smaller ones, and the mosque has an open courtyard surrounded by domed arcades and a minaret in the Sana'a style. A historic bathhouse lies beside it.
