This maqam near Badra, close to the Iranian border, marks a place where Imam Ali al-Rida is said to have stopped on his journey from Madinah to Khurasan in about 200 AH, after he was summoned by the caliph al-Ma'mun. It is a small local shrine in the Badra district. A second maqam connected with the same journey stands a few kilometres to the north-east.
