Hani ibn Urwa al-Muradi was a leading man of Kufa and a long-time supporter of Sayyiduna Ali who sheltered Muslim ibn Aqil in his house in 60 AH. When he refused to hand Muslim over, the governor Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad had him beaten and then executed in the market of Kufa. His shrine stands beside the Great Mosque of Kufa, facing the shrine of Muslim ibn Aqil.
