The Shrine of Abu al-Fadl is one of the established places of ziyarah in the city of al-Diwaniyah. Local tradition commonly identifies its occupant as Zayd ibn Imam Musa al-Kazim, known as Zayd al-Nar, and the shrine is consequently also known locally as the Shrine of Ibn al-Kazim and Sab‘ al-Diwaniyah. Zayd was a son of Imam Musa al-Kazim and an Alid figure who became prominent during the political upheavals of the early third century AH. Al-Diwaniyah has honoured this shrine for generations as the grave of Zayd al-Nar, and a genealogical tradition also connects it with Abu al-Fadl Yahya, one of his descendants, which is why the shrine carries the name of Abu al-Fadl.
