The mosque of Murad Pasha was built in 986 AH (1578) by the Ottoman governor of Egypt of that name, and it is registered among the Ottoman monuments of Cairo. It is an active mosque on Port Said Street, the road laid over the old canal of Cairo, al-Khalij, near where it crosses al-Azhar Street. The mosque of Qadi Yahya on al-Azhar Street is about 100 metres away, and the grave of Shaykh Muhammad al-Samanudi is closer still.
