About Grave of Humaydah bint Muslim ibn Aqil

Sayyidah Humaydah was the daughter of Sayyiduna Muslim ibn ʿAqil, the cousin and emissary of Imam al-Husayn (RA) who was martyred in Kufa shortly before the tragedy of Karbala. Later traditions describe her as a young child who travelled with the family of Imam al-Husayn and learned of her father’s martyrdom while the caravan was journeying towards Iraq. She is remembered for the suffering and patience she shared with the women and children of the Ahl al-Bayt during this period. A grave in Bāb al-Ṣaghīr Graveyard is traditionally attributed to her, beside the graves associated with Sayyidah Maymūnah and Sayyidah Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays. However, other historical accounts place her later life and burial in Madinah, so the Damascus site is best regarded as a traditional commemorative shrine rather than a confirmed grave.
