Sayyid ʿAbdullah was a son of Imam Jaʿfar al-Sadiq and a descendant of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ through his daughter Sayyidah Fāṭimah al-Zahrāʾ and her son Imam al-Husayn (RA). He was an elder brother of Imam Musa al-Kazim and was commonly known as ʿAbdullah al-Afṭaḥ. A domed shrine within the historic Bāb al-Ṣaghīr Graveyard in Damascus is traditionally attributed to him. However, reliable early records do not firmly establish that Sayyid ʿAbdullah was buried there, so the site is best regarded as a historic maqam traditionally associated with him rather than a confirmed grave.
