About Grave of Fidda al-Nubiyya

Located within the historic Bāb al-Ṣaghīr Graveyard outside the southern walls of Old Damascus, this small domed shrine is traditionally attributed to Sayyidah Fiḍḍah al-Nūbiyyah, who is remembered as the devoted attendant of Sayyidah Fāṭimah al-Zahrāʾ and a member of the household closely connected to the Ahl al-Bayt. Early biographical works identify her as the Nubian servant of Sayyidah Fāṭimah, while later traditions remember her for her piety, loyalty and knowledge of the Qur’an. The shrine consists of a modest chamber crowned by a green dome and stands near several other graves associated with the family and companions of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ. Although the attribution of the Damascus grave is long established in local tradition, details concerning her later life, death and burial are not historically certain.
