Located within the historic Bāb al-Ṣaghīr Graveyard, this small domed shrine is traditionally known as the Maqam of Abān ibn Ruqayyah. The attribution is historically uncertain, as Sayyidah Ruqayyah bint Nabi Muhammad ﷺ is known to have had a son named ʿAbdullah, while Abān ibn ʿUthmān was another son of Sayyiduna ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān (RA), born to Umm ʿAmr bint Jundab. Abān was a respected Tābiʿī, jurist, hadith narrator, governor of Madinah and an early authority on the life and campaigns of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ. Historical accounts place his death in Madinah, so the Damascus monument is best described as a traditional commemorative shrine rather than his confirmed burial place.
