This was the mosque of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, the clan of the Aws to which Sa'd ibn Mu'adh and Usayd ibn Hudayr belonged, in the area of Waqim on the eastern side of Madinah. Nabi Muhammad ﷺ is reported to have prayed Maghrib here when visiting the clan, and the mosque is counted among the places in Madinah where he prayed. The mosque itself no longer stands, and palm trees mark the plot where it stood, in the eastern lava field (Harrat Waqim) about 2 km east of Masjid al-Nabawi. It is also known as Masjid Waqim.
