Masjid al-Rumaylah, also known as Masjid Salma, is one of the oldest heritage buildings in the old al-Dhuhayrah quarter of Riyadh. Its date of construction is not recorded, but palm trees were planted on its site in the eighteenth century. Its prayer hall, courtyard and minaret are a living example of the old mosques of Riyadh, and it was restored in 1994. It was restored in the second phase of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques, which raised its capacity from 327 to 657 worshippers.
