Inside the open courtyard of Masjid al-Nabawi there was once a small garden enclosed by iron railings, with palm and jujube trees, which was known as the garden of Sayyida Fatimah al-Zahra. It was said to stand where her palm tree had grown, and beside it was a well of sweet water linked to the Prophet ﷺ, which the people of Madinah called the Zamzam of Madinah. Pilgrims prized the dates of its palms, and the garden is remembered in Turkish devotional poetry about Madinah. The garden no longer exists. Its place lies on the northern side of the Ottoman mosque, about 80 metres north of the Green Dome, in the open area of the mosque that is now shaded by the large umbrellas.
