This shrine in Maysan Governorate is honoured as the grave of Sayyid Abu al-Hasan Ali al-Gharabi, popularly called Ali al-Gharbi, a descendant of Zayd ibn Ali ibn al-Husayn. The town and district of Ali al-Gharbi carry his name, and several sayyid families of southern Iraq trace their descent to him. The shrine, with its green dome, stands on the west bank of the Tigris in the village of Dhuhaybat, about 1 km from the centre of Ali al-Gharbi.
