About Qaid Ibrahim Mosque

The Qaid Ibrahim Mosque was built in 1948 to mark a hundred years since the passing of Ibrahim Pasha, the son of Muhammad Ali and commander of his armies. It was designed by the Italian architect Mario Rossi, who also designed the mosques of Midan al-Masajid. Its tall, slender white minaret is one of the landmarks of the city centre, rising over Raml Station and the Corniche. The mosque is famous for its Ramadan nights, when great crowds pray tarawih in and around it.
