This palace was built in 1896 for Prince Said Halim Pasha, a grandson of Muhammad Ali, to a design by the Italian architect Antonio Lasciac. It is known as the Champollion Palace after the street on which it stands. The Italianate palace has been empty for many years and is seen from outside. It stands on Champollion Street in downtown Cairo, near the Egyptian Museum.
