The Royal Carriages Museum displays the carriages of the Muhammad Ali family. Its building began as the khedival carriage department of Khedive Isma'il, became the royal stables under King Fuad, and turned into a museum after 1952. Carriages for state occasions stand beside harness, uniforms and paintings. It is in Bulaq Abu al-Ila, near the Maspero metro station.
